FitNFlow's topic this week is about enjoying the present moment. Enjoying the present moment is a big part of mindfulness practices. It's important for those who want to be more mindful to start by trying to be more present every day, and to learn to enjoy the little things. Today's blog topic is about three different, little ways to be more present everyday!
Set Your Intention
If your goal is to become more present, set an intention to do so. The best time is when you first wake up in the morning. Take a breath and set your intention for the day ahead! Remind yourself of that intention throughout the day. Be aware of your thoughts. Are you consumed with thoughts of the past or future? Do you find yourself worrying about small things? Pay attention to your thoughts, and bring the purpose back to the original intention you have set.
Enjoy the Mundane
Sounds silly, but sometimes we forget to enjoy the simple things. Day to day life may be simple, but there are pleasurable things you can experience in your day to day life. Is it a beautiful day? Were you able to spend time with people you love? Did you do an activity you enjoy? We forget how much these little things mean to us, but when we are truly in the present moment we are able to realize how special each moment is.
Don't Forget About Meditation!
Meditation is a powerful tool that can refocus your mind on the present. Starting a meditation practice can be challenging, so don't be hard on yourself. If you slowly incorporate meditation into your daily life, you will begin to notice a huge difference in your awareness of the present world. Need help in getting started?
