The ABCs of Health

We hear the word "health" all the time, but what does it mean to live a healthy life? Surely there's more to it than a ginger shot and occasional serving of kale... FitNFlow is focused on empowering others to live and manage their healthy lifestyle. By bringing a yoga class to you we make health a little easier to manage. But health is not just determined by your physical shape- there is a broad spectrum of health, and the more health is studied the more we are realizing that all aspects of health are interconnected. So let's do a deep dive into these different aspects of health, and what we can do to elevate our health in our day-to-day lives.

What is Health

Health is defined as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being. Many times we focus on one aspect of these three, and tend to forget the full picture of a healthy lifestyle. The problem with this is all aspects of health are interconnected- when one part of your health is off it can greatly affect the others. This is why at FitNFlow we took into consideration all of these aspects when creating our app.



Let's Get Physical

Physical well-being does not mean having a six pack- there's a lot more to it. In fact, one of FitNFlow's founders used to work at a gym as a personal trainer and met many personal trainers who looked physically fit, but smoked a pack of cigarettes a day! FitNFlow believes that being physically fit means giving respect to your body. You can over-exercise just as easily as you can under-exercise, believe it or not.

Physical health is about taking care of yourself. Give your body love and treat it well. This may sound silly, but we find so many people have a negative association with their body which leads to a negative treatment of their body. Do what feels good! Don't run yourself to the ground but don't be afraid to go outside, be active and enjoy the world.


The FitNFlow team loves yoga because it is truly a practice for all stages. Try a vinyasa class for an active and intensive practice, all the way to a restorative class for a rejuvenating practice. There are countless yoga styles to try, so you can be active while also being kind to your body with the practice you're wanting. Lastly, stay educated on the best practices for fitness. We strongly believe that in-person guidance is very important for physical health. FitNFlow brings an instructor to you for in-person guidance that's tailored to your needs. Without expert guidance it is very possible to do a movement incorrectly and injure yourself (it happens to everyone- even the experts). Also, doing a fitness routine on your own is hard to manage. It's impossible to challenge yourself and move your body in different ways (come on, you know it's true)! FitNFlow is making this easier, with instructors that come right to you.



Mental Fortitude

Society as a whole is becoming more and more aware of the importance of mental health, and for very good reason! There are so many studies on how mental health strongly links to physical health. Recently, many studies have linked the power of meditation to a higher well-being. This is why FitNFlow offers meditation classes- mental health cannot be ignored!

FitNFlow tips for mental health have to do a lot with self care. We believe that taking time for yourself is the key to maintaining mental health. Reality is, you have to love yourself so that you can love others. So often our instinct is to give and give to others without giving time for ourselves. To avoid a breaking point give yourself time to do what makes you happy, and learn to love yourself and your life so you can give your fullest self back to the world.


A key part of this all is learning how to let go of the past, and live in the present. Meditation and yoga can be highly effective in helping you learn to let go and focus on the present. Sometimes it's hard for us to let go on our own, so having in-person guidance can be key to learning how to let go and rejuvenate the mind. The FitNFlow app is the only on-demand yoga service where you can book an instructor to come to you to guide you through this journey.



Social Connections

The social aspect of health is the one seemingly most forgotten, but extremely important. Studies show that loneliness kills, and social connection leads to longer and happier lives. Does this mean you have to go to all the parties, and have the most friends? No! It's more important to connect deeply with others than to have shallow and unfulfilling relationships. Experience in-person relationships with those who have similar interests to you. FitNFlow's goals are to make yoga social, with in-person interactions for those too busy to go into a studio. The yoga class still comes to you, so that you can connect more with others.



Final Note

Don't be afraid to challenge yourself. Don't be afraid to give yourself a break. Maintain, maintain, maintain! Because health is a marathon- not a sprint, and it's all about the bigger picture...
